Mark D Sorensen is a graduate of University of Cincinnati-College Conservatory of Music in 2004 and is currently a Professor of Costume Design at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.  He has been a member of USA local 829 for 16 years. His professional work includes Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Cincinnati Opera, Glimmerglass Opera, Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati, Forestburgh Playhouse and most recently co founding Opera Wilmington,  Wilmington’s first full produced opera company.   Favorite productions designed include Die Fledermaus, Arcadia,  Comedy of Errors, and Shout! The Mod Musical.  He received three Wilmington Star News Best Costume Design and has been nominated six times. After designing hundreds of plays, operas, musicals, and dance performances, he was delighted and honored to be nominated as USITT TDP 2015 Alumni Award of Excellence. In 2020, Mark received the College of Arts and Science Teaching Excellence Award.
